Fair warning though, don’t let these cool- looking shots fool you as they can be quite strong, containing 30 alcohol content, enough to make you intoxicated in several shots. It’s also a favorite among party goers as it only contains approximately 83 calories and the fact that it's contained in a shot glass. Its cool blue color fits its refreshing nature, with the complementing flavors of vodka, blue curacao and lime juice. The other part of the name, “kamikaze” is a Japanese word that means “divine wind”, which was a commonly used word in World War 2 causing people to think that the drink was created in an American military base bar in Japan. The blue one replaces the triple sec with blue curacao, hence the name. The kamikaze shot blue is actually a variation of the original kamikaze drink which is made up of equal parts of vodka, triple sec and lime juice. You can have the blue kamikaze in one gulp, thus the shot, or if you want to enjoy it a bit longer, you can have it as a cocktail. One of the oldest drinks dated by cocktail historians, the blue kamikaze shot (can also be arranged as kamikaze shot blue or just blue kamikaze) has been around since 1976, and branded as the original shooter cocktail.
